Strom Valve
Strom Valve
The Storm Valve is designed to run above a compression-set packer such as the VLT, IX-P, or V-RTTS Retrievable Packer. It allows the drill pipe or tubing near the surface to be disconnected without tripping the entire string, making it ideal for situations where the rig must be abandoned quickly.
The Storm Valve can also be used when changing surface equipment without pulling the drill string. Once closed, it maintains a secure seal and remains closed until the drill pipe or tubing is reconnected.
Storm Valve, which is run above the VLT Compression- Set Packer, provides a means to isolate the tubing below the packer and disconnect the running string by 22 turns of left-hand rotation. The running string can be reconnected and the valve opened to equalize pressure for packer retrieval. The Storm Valve features an expendable plug that provides through-bore access for circulation or wire-line passage.
