Pocket Slip Hanger Packer
Pocket Slip Hanger Packer
The Pocket Slip Hydraulic Liner Hanger with an integral liner top packer features a compact design ideal for highly deviated or horizontal wells. The hanger is equipped with premium O-rings and glass-filled Teflon backup rings to ensure reliable sealing within the hydraulic cylinder. A high-strength alloy cylinder provides maximum burst and collapse resistance.
The hanger is set by applying pressure through the drill pipe. A setting ball is circulated or dropped to the ball seat in the landing collar or running tool. The applied pressure acts on an internal piston, driving the slips up the cones into the set position. The hydraulic-set liner hanger can incorporate a tapered roller-bearing assembly, if required, allowing rotation of the liner while in the set position during cementing.
The liner-top packer is a high-performance packer suitable for most applications and is set by applying set-down weight.
Features
- The liner-top packer establishes a reliable annular seal between the liner top and the host casing.
- It features a compact design and a weight-set sealing element.
- The packer incorporates a pocket-slip configuration for secure anchoring.
- Hold-down slips are integrated, enabling deployment in deviated and horizontal wellbores. The packer is equipped with a standard connection compatible with an upper tieback receptacle.
Applications
- Drilling liner: Casing string installed during the drilling phase to provide wellbore stability and isolate formations.
- Production liner: Casing installed to complete the production interval and facilitate hydrocarbon flow to surface.
- Open-hole horizontal wells: Wellbores with extended horizontal sections drilled without casing or liner across the production interval.
- Unconventional completion: Well completion methodology applied to unconventional reservoirs, typically involving hydraulic fracturing and multistage stimulation.
Liner Hanger Benefits
- The packer features a proprietary protected slip design that maximizes slip contact area and ensures uniform load distribution.
- It is available in both rotation and non-rotation configurations; in the rotation model, tapered roller bearings permit liner rotation while set.
- The slip and cone geometry is optimized to minimize casing stress.
- The assembly is capable of supporting long and heavy liners, with hardened slips that engage and hold in all standard casing grades.
- A large annular flow area in the set position minimizes pressure drop.
- Both body and cylinder meet or exceed API burst and collapse ratings for the applicable casing grade (unless otherwise specified).
- The slip-seat design provides a weld-free interface for efficient transmission of liner load to the casing.
LTP Benefits
- High-performance, compression-set liner-top packer designed to establish an effective annular seal at the liner top.
- Prevents formation breakdown, cement slurry losses, and gas migration.
- Hold-down slips secure light liners, preventing movement during deployment.
