The Packer Setting Tool is used in conjunction with the liner setting tool when running liner equipment with liner top pack-offs. After the liner is hung and the setting tool is released, the string is picked up to disengage the setting dogs. Applying set-down weight on the string then activates and locks the pack-off in the set position.

The Model PST Top-Set Running Tool is equipped with circulation slots along the body. The faces of the setting dogs are knurled to provide secure gripping during operations.
