Liner Wiper Plug
Liner Wiper Plug
Description & Application:
The Liner Wiper Plug (LWP) is used to displace cement through the internal diameter of a liner. It is compatible with hydraulic and drillable landing collars and has a proven track record of effectively displacing cement and bumping in the landing collar. The LWP is an ideal solution for applications where a ball seat in the wiper plug is not required or where a dual-plug system is not desired. The LWP is shear-pinned to the bottom of the running tool. After cement placement, the Drill Pipe Wiper Plug (DWP) is released behind the cement. Upon reaching the LWP, the DWP latches and seals into it. Differential pressure across the LWP shears the pins and launches the plug. The LWP is then displaced through the liner, acting as a mechanical barrier behind the cement, and lands in the landing collar, where pressure may be applied as required.
Features & Advantages
- Liner Wiper Plug (LWP) can be used to wipe liners of the same diameter with varying weights, providing enhanced operational flexibility.
- The design incorporates multiple features that simplify and accelerate drill-out operations, reducing overall rig time.
- An anti-rotation mechanism prevents both the LWP and Drill Pipe Wiper Plug (DWP) from rotating during drill-out of the landing collar.
- The LWP is manufactured from aluminum and elastomeric materials, making it fully PDC-drillable.
