Four Plug Cementing System
Four Plug Cementing System
The Four Plug cementing System is utilized while cementing a liner to wipe the drill pipe and liner clean of cement, and to separate well bore and displacement fluids from cement slurry during liner cementing operations. It consists of two casing plugs and two different sized drill pipe plugs. The two casing plugs are connected by a series of collet assemblies and are attached to a LFC Adapter on the bottom of the Liner Running Tool.
The two Pump Down Plugs are placed in front and behind the cement slurry, at surface. The LFC Plugs are designed to shear off the setting tool adapter when the Pump Down Plug lands in the LFC Plug, using the small ID of the wiper plug as opposed to the ID for the liner. This is especially important when running large diameter liners, where the end area forces acting on the plugs could result in element failure.
